Air Pollution to Boost India’s LNG Demand
India’s prolonged battles with air pollution will help drive the country’s appetite for liquefied natural gas in the long run, despite some near-term obstacles, says BMI Research, forecasting India’s LNG import to grow at an average annual rate of 5.6% over the next 5 years. “Discussions are reportedly underway for a possible nationwide ban on pet coke use, which will inevitably shift consumption towards LNG,” the firm says.
