Tullow — whose net gas output in the first quarter averaged 2,700 b/d of oil equivalent (0.4 million cu m/d) — said the end of UK gas output would be the result of a decommissioning project required as the assets reached the end of their life.
They comprise its operated Thames area assets and its non-operated fields in the CMS area, which include the Schooner, Murdoch and Boulton fields.
“All gas production is coming to an end from our UK assets with the decommissioning of Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal later this year,” a Tullow spokesman said.
A spokeswoman for ConocoPhillips confirmed to S&P Global Platts on Wednesday that the Theddlethorpe terminal would close “by the end of 2018” as a result of ConocoPhillips’ large-scale decommissioning work in the UK Southern North Sea. ?
