Today’s weekly EIA report showed US oil exports fell to 1.2M bpd from 1.6M bpd the week before. And while one week’s numbers can’t be trusted, exports over the past four weeks are 1.5M bpd vs 2.1M bpd the four weeks before that. “The noticeable drop in crude exports is a bearish flag,” says Kyle Cooper with ION Energy. Analysts say declining crude exports is due to a recently-shrinking differential between US and global benchmark prices, as well as bottleneck issues at overworked US ports not yet ready for so many shipments.
