French major Total has found gas and condensate with a wildcat well drilled in the northeast part of Norway’s Martin Linge field in the North Sea.The objective of the well was to prove petroleum in Middle Jurassic reservoir rocks (Brent group) and it found it in the Tarbert, Ness and Etive formations in the Brent group. Reservoir quality was good, regulator Norwegian Petroleum Directorate said October 17. The preliminary estimate is 2-11mn m3 of recoverable oil equivalents (12.6-69.2mn bbls).The maximum production rate was 2.4mn m3/d of gas.The well has added additional resources to the Martin Linge development and was completed with the objective of putting the well into production at start-up of the field. The produced gas will be exported to the UK terminal at St Fergus. The well was the fourth exploration well in the license.
