Crude Prices Caught Between OPEC and US
Oil traders in Asia are seeing little reason to aggressively take up new positions at the moment after a recent buying spree, says Michael McCarthy, chief strategist at CMC Market. “Traders are unsure of the short-term direction,” cautioning the upswing in US production is likely to deteriorate OPEC members’ commitment to sticking with production cuts. Those pulling back output “are seeing the benefits flowing to the US producers.”
