Vitol Says Its Oil Traded Volumes Rose 16% in 2016
[Dow Jones] Vitol Group says its trading volumes of oil and refined products rose to more than 7 million barrels per day in 2016, up 16% from the previous year. The world’s largest oil trader says the largest share of the volume was in crude although the highest growth in percentage terms came from gasoline, up 44%, and gasoil, up 26%. These increases were “driven by increasing demand in both established markets, notably the US and–to a lesser extent–Australia, and a growing presence in key African markets,” says Ian Taylor, chairman and chief executive in an emailed statement.
