Supertankers Start Storing Oil Again
More than 50 very large crude carriers are being used for crude storage of up to 60M barrels, as a 10% drop in oil prices since late May push owners to store crude and sell it when the price goes up, Singapore traders say. The vast majority of supertankers are parked in the Straits of Malacca. The world VLCC fleet stands at around 700 and only around 20 were used for crude storage late last year.
