The number of active US oil rigs rises by 6 to 747, marking a 22nd straight week of increases, says Baker Hughes. The total is the most since April 2015, but it’s still well below a peak of 1,609 in October 2014. The Permian Basin in west Texas and part of New Mexico has driven the string of oil rig-count gains, but stayed flat this week at 368, while the Williston region of North Dakota gained 3 oil rigs to 49.
