A surge in electric vehicles and significant efficiency gains will help dampen oil consumption, and by 2050 fossil fuels will account for only 52% of the world’s energy mix, compared to 81% now, the report says. The outlook is brighter for natural gas, which is expected to continue to see demand growth out to 2035, and to become the single largest source of energy towards 2050. ?
