Futures for February delivery settled down 6.2 cents, or 1.8%, to $3.447 a million British thermal units on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after wavering between gains and losses throughout the day. On Thursday, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that natural gas stockpiles declined by 288 billion cubic feet in the week ended Jan. 19, exceeding analyst expectations for a 269-bcf draw.
