Nigerian State Oil Company Subsidiary Targets 500,000 Barrels a Day The Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), one of the upstream subsidiaries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), will increase its crude oil production to 500,000 barrels a day before 2022, Maikanti Baru, head of the NNPC said Thursday. The NPDC currently produces about 200,000 barrels of oil a day and “will increase to 300,000 barrels per day this year,” according to a statement from the NNPC. Nigeria is Africa’s largest crude oil exporter, and produces about 2 million barrels of oil a day, mostly by international oil companies like Shell, Agip, Chevron and Total.
