The plant and regasification terminal are expected to commence commercial operations on 1 September 2018. The LNG tank will be the largest in the Caribbean, and is expected to commence operations on schedule in 2019. The combined facility represents an investment of US$1.15 billion, and satisfies a growing requirement for natural gas in Central America and the Caribbean. AES Colón will expand the use of LNG exports from the US to drive economic development and shape a cleaner, more cost-effective energy future in Central America and the Caribbean.
