Light, sweet crude for January delivery ended 2.6% lower at $51.49 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices were briefly down 5% at an intraday low of $50.08. Brent, the global benchmark, closed 2.4% lower at $60.06 a barrel on London’s Intercontinental Exchange.
