Energy Ventures has put forward $200 million for investments in services and technology North Sea companies. The private equity player is aiming to boost businesses in the area by providing funds to companies that need access to finance to grow “during challenging times for the oil and gas industry”, it said on Thursday. The company is looking to invest between $10 million to $40 million in mature players that deliver a “marketable, proprietary product or service with potential in the upstream sector”. Unlike previous investment moves, which saw Energy Ventures deal with new-comers and companies in their early-stages of development, Hvamb told Upstream that the aim is now to invest in “mature companies that are profitable and already have products in the market”.
