Natural gas consumption of China in 2030 is expected to reach 480 billion cubic meters

On March 2, Energy Research Council released the “China Energy Outlook of 2030” (referred to as “Outlook” in the following) which estimated that consumption of natural gas in China was at a relatively low level while predicting huge potential for development. The “Outlook” addressed, that domestic natural gas consumption may reach 290 billion cubic meters by 2020 with average annual growth rate of 7.5% during “13th Five Year Plan”. In addition, it may reach 480 billion cubic meters by 2020 with average annual growth rate of 5.2% from 2020 to 2030, accounting for 12% of total primary energy consumption.
